Hey... It's me!

Hey there... It's been a while!  Here is a recap of what I've been up to this past year.

We went to Jamaica for my cousin's wedding.  Did lots of snorkeling and got to take my picture with this awesome puffer fish! (highlight of my trip)

Adopted these two gems, Roxie and Riley.
Roxie (white) is a shih-tzu/pug and Riley (black) is a Shih--tzu/pug/maltese.
They are so loved!

HIKING!  lots and lots of hiking (I even bought shoes just for hiking) I snapped this picture while on a hike here in Northern Idaho.

I took a flower hanging basket class and made this gorgeous yard accessory!  Begonias are my new favorite flower

I bought an old dresser, then re-finished it.  It looks Amazing!  I'll post pictures soon.

went to the badlands in South Dakota for a short but amazing family vacation!  It is beautiful there and if you have a chance, please visit.  go hike through the badlands national park, go say high to 4 of our presidents, buy some cheesy key-chain at Wall Drug(and take your picture on the giant jackalope), drive by crazy horse monument and hike Harney's peak!
Trust me, you won't regret it!

Oh, and did I mention we moved from NYC to Northern Idaho?  Yup!  I took a job and relocated us out to this small town on this beautiful lake.  We are completely surrounded by mountains, trees and every once in a while in the winter you might see Molly the Moose meander through town.
And yes, we love it all!

xoxo

oh Hi!

Hi Ladies!  Yes, it's me, Kirby!  You are all probably wondering where I've been, and the truth is, I've just been busy and have had to put blogging to the side for a little bit.  I'll bring you up to date on what has been going on with me.
I went to my cousins wedding in South Dakota, couldn't fly back to NYC because of the hurricane, made it back in time for labor day weekend, enjoyed it with my fiance, signed us up for dance lessons, working out and getting in shape for the big day, making sure everything for the wedding is set and if it isn't spend my evenings working them out.  And that's about it!  so yup, we are getting married in 2 1/2 weeks.  It is coming up quickly.  I'm heading for Minnesota in a week to do all the last week things that you can't do until the last week AND finally get my dress fitted and altered.

The image above is just so beautiful, the dress is stunning and is totally inspiring me as I set off to create a collection of my own!  So happy Wednesday everyone!  Glad to be back!

Back to the Basics

So sorry for my absence and lack of posts.  I have been re-evaluating my little blog for a few weeks now and to be honest my feelings about it go up and down.  After reading a post by this inspiring young woman about her own blog, I couldn't help but think that I wanted to do the same for Colors of Honey.

I truly want to take my blogging to the next level, I want to bring my readers one of a kind inspiration that comes from yours truly and I want to continue to inspire your wedding fashion for years to come.

I hope and ask for all your support as I continue to find my niche in the blogging world.  Over the next few weeks I hope to add a little more about myself so we can all get to know each other a little better and this week I will also be posting a real wedding that was submitted to me by a lovely bride excited to share her wedding with all of you!

Registry favorites

registry

Now that the invites are sent and we are starting to receive replies in the mail(isn't this so exciting!), I've turned my focus on the last little details and of course, sprucing up our registries.  I'm not a greedy person at all, but I know this is apart of the process and having been a guest at weddings previously, it does help in the gift purchasing process. Especially if you are a young couple and have a cluster of things that you've received as hand-me-downs through out the year, this is a chance to start creating a home together.  So I put together a little board highlighting some of my favorite registry items, all of which we will probably purchase if we don't receive them as gifts.

My favorites are:
Kitchenaid Blender in Red
Molcajete to make my famous guacamole!
his and hers tumblers by Kate Spade
produce bags, because we should all do our part to save our planet
Compost bin to make our garden grow
and
luggage by London Fog, because every newlywed should have a new matching set of luggage to take on their honeymoon!

Also, head over to Hey Gorgeous and a post they did on making registry gifts more personable.  I found it so helpful, especially during this wedding season!

Girls Weekend!

It's going to be HOT this weekend, like it has in much of the country these days.  Problem, I only have AC in my bedroom.  Solution, shop, eat and drink.  All of which will have AC!  perfect to keep all my beautiful friends cool.

What are you all up to this weekend?  I hope it involves some time to relax, maybe instead of laying by the pool you will be laying in the pool!

Keep cool, my friends!

hey there!

I've been a very, very bad blogger.  You all depend on me, right?!

Well let me tell you, I've been dedicating myself more to my full-time career and wedding planning and it's just so hard to find time to sit down and really find something worth sharing with you all.  At least things that haven't been blogged about 100 times before.  So I'm officially in a blog rut.  Just let me get my wedding invites done and in the mail, then I'll be back 110%.  Until then, please forgive me for the lack of posts.  I do love you all, really, I do!

In the mean time, please enjoy a beautiful illustration from a girl who is AMAZING!

Weekend Bliss

How was your weekend Loves?  Mine was quite fantastic, a bit relaxing and all around great!  I tackled our wedding invites(they are almost done and ready to mail), I went to the gym(on both Saturday AND Sunday), had dinner with a friend and chatted about all both of our up coming weddings and I did some shopping and errands!

Oh, and I bought these shoes for my Bachelorette Party this weekend!  eeek!  I'm so excited!

How was your weekend?  Tell me all about it!

Natural Beauty

What a natural beauty she is!  Although I plan on having a more 'done up' look with my make up with color on my lips, I'm loving her wedding day look.  So pure and natural!

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had wonderful weekends and thanks for all your comments on last Friday's post.  The stress has definitely passed and I'm ready to tackle any and all the bumps that we hit on the way to the alter!

Inspired to Sew

I have been so completely inspired to design and sew a small collection of wedding dresses. I just re-organized what I would like to be my work space and rediscovered fabric I've purchased over the years.

What do you think? should I go for it?

More Tumblers

Remember when I posted about these amazing tumblers?  Well I stumbled upon another pair while filling up my Macy's registry and about fell off my chair.  With wedding season officially starting I still think these make great wedding gifts

What do you think?

wedding cake

A little late in the day, I know, but I had to squeeze in a few minutes to share this beauty with you all.  I love the simple and modern design with the one flower on top.  The flower looks like it is made of sugar.

Did you know that I worked in a bakery in high school?  I took some cake decorating classes on the side.  It's a fun creative outlet if you are ever in need of something fun (and a little messy) to do!

Starbucks

I'm going to need a lot of this to get me through the day, along with some cold medicine.  I'm so looking forward to the weekend.  I'm going to spend most of it in bed recovering from this head cold.  in the mean time though, you can find me at Starbucks getting refills to keep me running at work today.

tell me about your plans, maybe that will make me better!

Gardening and DIY plans

yes, I know that this is mainly a wedding blog, but I just couldn't help myself.  Yesterday I got my Martha Stewart Living magazine in the mail and a friend posted about spring and buying a plant.  I guess you could say I caught a bit of the Spring fever!

Anyway, I would like to share with you some ideas I have for spring.  One of which I might start with this weekend!
A Beautifully unique headboard.  perfect for a young couple!  Wouldn't this make for a great DIY project?  It's hard to stumble upon weathered wood like this on the New York City sidewalks but I bet my family back in Minnesota would find it easily!  I'm going to ask my parents to keep their eyes open for me so I can make this with the help from my dad when I'm home.

You may remember this photo from a post I did almost a year ago.  and I'm still wanting to find an old dresser or desk and convert it into a little garden in our apartment.  Plus, we have a corner of our living room that is the starting point for every cord you could imagine.  so with something like this I could attach a cord organizer or something and hide all that nasty clutter!

And of course new plants and herbs to grow for spring!  I'm wondering, do you think I could grow any vegetables in an apartment setting?  I would love to try.  Send your tips my way!

Girls just wanna have fun

Fun, right?!

I love seeing brides that are not so serious.  Were you a fun bride on your big day, or do you plan to be?  I sure do!
